DIY(3)-Separated Solar Lamp

DIY(3)-Separated Solar Lamp
Preamble
Solar Lamp.
ie., a COB lamp that could be charged via solar panels.

The COB lamp being reviewed here has some flaws and little defects which could be overcome with several simple treatments.

But it carries quite good cost-effectiveness when it is on sale at times.

Each as an individual panel does not carry any good or commonly usable performance. But it could be made quite usable when several of it are combined in parallel.

Combining four of them as one exerts about 1.7 Watts maximum on a fair sunny day. So eight of them as one could exert about 3.5 Watts maximum.

Anyhow, let's make it better and durable to our satisfaction.

Then, here we go~:

Black solar panels with a respective COB lamp:
  1. 1st buy:
Works right out of the box and it is the brightest of all the other 4 kinds of solar lamps I've bought from AliExpress and it also seems to be lasting longest than the others. Sensors work fine in 3 different modes. Its separated solar-charging panel makes it more convenient and flexible.

  2. 2nd:
Purchased at a very low price compared to its features and components. It is so bright as to be used outdoors. Solar charge operation works adequate enough with its separate solar-charging panel so that it may last long as expected. A great bargain for its components and features.

  3. 3rd:
I wasn't expecting this product to come out at this low price, one fifty somethings. What a bargain!

  4. 4th:
This edition involves no flickers. Its merit lies in the separation of the lamp from the solar-charging panel. Thus it is really useful in many ways. I also use its charging panel separately to charge a supplementary power bank, though it takes quite long, if used with only its orginal single panel...

I utilize it combining 4 panels as 1 to speed up the charging speed with better amount of current.

    Cost-effective real energy-saving versatile item.

Fix and betterment:
It has no protective device at all inside itself.
So it may well go awry (charge does not work anymore) when it's battery is overcharged while under the sun for many days, or if a higher voltage is provided for the charge (abrupt voltage fluctuation).

That's what mine has gone through on one sunny day. Thus I had replaced its gone-awry(swollen) battery with new one attaching a protective board strip on the new battery. And the new one has much greater capacity then the old one.

Its charge operation has been proceeding normally again ever since the fix and it is still working quite fine without errors till the date of this writing and it could be safely presumed to be maintained as such onwhards.

The specifics are as follows:

  1. Detach its cover panels after unwinding all 8 screws from its back to reveal its battery. I could see the bottom of the battery had swollen up:
  2. Replace the troubled battery with a new one to which a protection board strip is attached:
  3. Place the new battery in its due position then attach some elastic sponge-like stuff for safety against accidental physical shocks from outside. So that the lines connected to the battery may not be detached by the shakes from such shocks:
  4. Finally close it up with covers and test whether it works fine or not.

Fix and betterment for another one are as follows:

Here are another fix and battery replacement for another one gone awry in another day.

  1. Open it up detaching its covers.
    :
  2. Inspect its inside and detach the troubled battery:
  3. Prepare a protection board strip and attach it to a new battery whcich is about to replace the old gone-awry one:
  4. Replace the troubled battery and position the new one firmly in its own due place. Test its working status:

  5. Close it up with covers.

Done!
Enjoy using the bettered solar COB lamp:
