Gadgets - (2) Revive cowon D2 by replacing its worn out battery

COWON D2 (with DMB) 4GB memory.
A so called PMP which emits good quality sound had started to be released in the year 2006.
But it is sort of one of the oldies but goodies nowadays as time passed.

  

One day, my D2's battery had started to be depleted quicker and finally had swollen up not allowing it to stay on for adequate use.

To be or not to be for the D2. That was the question for the D2 then. That was, to decide whether to mend and use it or throw it away completely.

However, the author(I) decided to prolong its life by replacing its depleted battery with a new one.

Here are the details on what have been done for it:

One can get to two kinds of its batteries mainly, if he or she searches for its battery with Google:

and the other is [High Capacity GUKEEDIANZI Replacement Battery D 2 2600mah for Cowon D2 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, D2 Plus D2Plus 16gb] on AliExpress:

The author would use the one listed on the AliExpress site as it could be gotten without any shipping fee and for a considerably low price.

     

Prerequisites

1. Cowon D2 with a swollen (thus out-of-order) battery
   
2. GUKEEDIANZI li-ion polymer battery (3.8 volt)
   Some small screw drivers and some little tools for opening and treating D2's parts inside.
   But there is no need to buy these separately as these accompany the battery as shown below:
   

The Specifics

1. Open D2's back cover after taking out the two screws on the left of its frame from its back:
   
2. Remove the existing battery from inside D2 unplugging it from its connector.
   The original battery should be forcefully detached as it had been attached to its back inside by a piece of tape.

3. Now just connect the new GUKEEDIANZI battery to the connector instead and attach it to the place the original one resided,
   with a piece of double-sided tape or with any other similar material or means the reader prefers.
     

   Then place the new one inside it adjusting it's position so that it may fit right in the back as the original one had been.
   
   

4. Finally close up its back and wind up the screws back to finish the maintenance task.
5. It works now as expected, as before.
